The Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) section of the Inland Rail program is a critical upgrade to 39 kilometres of existing rail corridor and 14 kilometres of new track. The project will improve freight capacity between Melbourne and Brisbane, allowing double-stacked freight trains to operate more efficiently across the corridor. Early works include utility relocations, bridge modifications, and upgrades to track infrastructure to accommodate the future Inland Rail standard.
VFT Engineering Surveyors is delivering high accuracy survey services for early works on the I2S project, including primary and secondary survey control establishment, utility identification and mapping, detailed concept design surveys, and early works construction set out. Our involvement supports our client’s objectives by ensuring that all preparatory works are completed with precision, mitigating risks, and laying the foundation for the full delivery of Inland Rail in the region.
